New York City, New York – November 10, 2010 – Latina, an award-winning female magazine that covers Latin culture, style, beauty, food, music and celebrities celebrates the “Women of Salsa” including Talia Castro-Pozo, Griselle Ponce, Eleanee Jimenez, Ana De Matos, and Desiree Godsell from the New York International Salsa Congress  in an eight page photo feature in the December issue (on sale November 16th).  To commemorate this special honor, founder of Mambo Fateegz Inc. John “Choco” Knight presents the “Women of Salsa” with an exciting celebration at Taj Lounge located at 48 West 21st Street (between 5th & 6th Avenues) with LIVE music by Willy’s NYC, dancing and performances on Monday, November 22nd at 8pm.

Five of salsa’s top female dancers including Talia Castro-Pozo, Griselle Ponce, Eleanee Jimenez, Ana De Matos, and Desiree Godsell were photographed by world renowned photographer Brian Paumier at the 10th Anniversary of the New York International Salsa Congress and selected to be a part of a special issue for Latina magazine.  Although salsa dancing attracts all ethnicities and cultures, each of these dancers exemplifies the beauty and essence of the true Latina salsera.

“I am thrilled to represent Latina women in the world of Salsa,” says Talia Castro-Pozo.   “For me, as a professional dancer who started dancing ballet at the young age of 3, to be a true Salsera, is to bring all the elements of love for the music, dance, culture, technique and artistry to inspire and create harmony inside and outside of the dance floor. I want every individual to be touched by Salsa in some way. You will never be the same.”

On Sunday, October 31, 2010, Livents attended Heidi Klum's VIP Halloween Party at Lavo on E. 58th Street and Park Avenue. Heidi Klum was dressed as a robotic superhero along with her husband, Seal. Her costume entailed a red and purple suit with intricate superhero details. Her face and upper body was covered in purple glittered paint, accessorized with a long red wig. Above all, her costume required her to walk on 2 feet stilts (making her 8' tall). Seal was dressed in a silver body suit, as the "Silver Surfer" with metallic paint all over his head and face. Kim Kardashian, John Legend, Russell Simmons, Ice-T, Coco, and many more were in attendance.

Livents was honored to attend this night of mystery, costume, and fun!

Blogger's Night Out - A Night of Networking

On Wednesday, October 20, 2010, Livents hosted an event called "Bloggers Night Out," where a group of bloggers and professionals were invited to network and mingle. Bloggers are the newest form of media that can help give a brand/company/product credential and exposure through SEO (search engine optimization). The bloggers also had the opportunity to talk about their blog, gain article ideas, clients, and referrals.

The event took place at Pranna, 79 Madison Avenue, New York, NY, where the ambiance was warm and inviting. The waitresses served Asian fusion appetizers for our guests. The projector showed pictures of our recent runway show in August. Overall, it was a successful event.

For an event that we put together in 2.5 days, we did great! Everyone had a wonderful time!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Picture from: www.karynpeters.com

Breast cancer is the most common cancer that affects women. Thousands are affected each year by this disease. It can affect anyone - your mother, sister, cousin, aunt, friend, lover, or wife. Women are encouraged to perform self-examinations as early as their 20's and to start mammograms between the ages of 35 and 40. Those with a family history of breast cancer, should start screening 10 years earlier.

The reason for beast cancer awareness month is to remind women that early detection offers a higher chance at survival. Knowledge is power! Stay positive, happy, and fulfilled! Live each day to the fullest. Be grateful for the things that you have and to appreciate those around you.

Here's Livents raising awareness about breast cancer.
To good health, peace, love, and prosperity.

Review - Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

On a rainy Friday night last week, I watched Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. "Michael Douglas played one of the screens most notorious villains: Gordon Gerkko. Emerging from a lengthy prison stint, Gekko finds himself on the outside of a world he once dominated. Looking to repair his damaged relationship with his daughter, Winnie, Gekko forms an alliance with her fiance Jacob (Shia LaBeouf)." For the most part of the movie, Gekko appears to be the "good guy," helping Jacob maneuver the stock market with his financial expertise. Moments of comical sarcasm lightens the seriousness of Wall Street talk. However, Gekko turns his back on Jacob and Winnie, once he receives $100 million laundered through their inheritance from Switzerland. This movie tests all character's morale and ends with a bittersweet note.

Here are some helpful lessons from the movie:
  • Don't share critical information with others.
  • Don't believe everything you see.
  • Don't follow a trend.
  • Expect the unexpected.

This movie's manipulative mind games and hussle inspired us to move faster and smarter.
