YOUNG PROFESSIONALS KICK OFF THEIR KOMEN GREATER NYC RACE FOR THE CURE TEAM AT PINK ROCKS THE ROCK ON JULY 10, RAISING FUNDS TO UNDERWRITE LOCAL BREAST HEALTH SERVICES FOR THOSE IN NEED
Hosted by Komen Greater NYC’s Young Professionals Committee, Reception at the Rink Bar in Rockefeller Center Will Be Site of Fund- and Awareness-Raising
WHAT: The Young Professionals Committee (YPC) of the Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen is kicking off its fundraising for the 2013 Komen Greater NYC Race for the Cure with a reception at The Rink Bar at Rockefeller Center from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Guests will have access to an open premium bar, delicious hors d’oeuvres, music by crowd favorite DJ Jason Fioto, and the opportunity to register for the YPC Race team and win prizes. Funds raised will help underwrite Komen Greater NYC grants to help at-risk and underserved women via community-based breast health programs in the metropolitan area.
WHO: The Young Professionals Committee is made up of rising executives and professionals engaging a new generation in the culture of philanthropy through the fight against breast cancer. The YPC is dedicated to finding new ways to raise monies to fund innovative grassroots breast health programs in the greater NYC area and raise breast cancer awareness. Komen Greater NYC was founded in 1990 and has raised over $60 million to date. The organization funds life-saving research to find the cures and local community-based breast health education, screening and treatment, support services and clinical trial enrollment programs. Its grants help ensure vital services for underserved residents of New York City, Long Island, Westchester and Rockland Counties. In 2013, Komen Greater NYC awarded $2.9 million in grants — $2.2 million supporting 32 community-based organizations and three local hospitals and $700,000 underwriting national peerreviewed research.
